Caren SweetlandHouston Site DirectorAs Generation SERVE's Interim Site Director, Caren is helping to grow our presence in the Houston area. She is an active community volunteer and is a firm believer in our mission to engage children in volunteerism and empower them to make a difference.
Caren is an attorney, has served as the Chair of the Herman H. Fleishman Foundation and serves on the Board for Collaborative for Children, Congregation Beth Israel, and the Southwest Region of the Anti-Defamation League. She serves on the Advisory Committee for the Center for Family Philanthropy of the Greater Houston Community Foundation (GHCF) and has served as the President of the GHCF Next Gen Giving Circle. Caren loves to volunteer with her husband and her four boys! |
Leah MadofProgram SpecialistLeah is a seasoned educator, writer, and a dedicated volunteer. Originally from Chicago, she holds a B.A. in English and Journalism from the University of Iowa and a M.A. in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
Leah has experience in program development, having started an English language program for Macedonian journalists at Macedonia Radio and Television, and she assisted in building curriculum and programs for a new International school in New York City. She has been Board Chair of PJ Library and has been a Board Member for the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center. Leah has also been active with Writers in Schools. Leah loves to volunteer with her family of four as well! |
