IMPORTANT MESSAGE:
After much consideration, Generation SERVE’s Board of Directors has decided to discontinue our Houston operations effective September 3, 2024. Activities specifically for Houston will no longer be added to the calendar and we are not currently registering new families in the Houston area.
We deeply value our partners and participants and here's how we plan to support Houston for the remainder of the year:
Virtual and SERVE at Home Opportunities: Houston families can always participate in Virtual and SERVE at Home activities through our Austin calendar, such as virtual workshops, packing care kits and more for volunteer hours.
Generation SERVE Partner Guide: We have developed a guide to help families continue their volunteerism directly with many of the non profit partners we have collaborated with in Houston.
Volunteer Hours: You may continue to log and record volunteer hours using your portal.
For PVSA, we suggest a group in Houston called Volunteer Scholars, which roughly follows a school year and the following summer, from September 1 through August 31.

Ways to Volunteer During Our Downtime

If you are looking for opportunities to give back to our community during the first weekend of March, we invite you to participate in one of the following activities that our partners are hosting on March 2. If you participate in either of these volunteer opportunities, please fill out our SERVE at Home Activity Completion form to show us how you were able to keep volunteering during this downtime! Please note that we won’t be able to enter these hours into our system until after the downtime is over, so it will take a little longer than usual to show up in your account. As soon as our system is up and running, we will send you information about setting up your family’s volunteer account and resume our normal operations with an improved experience.

TECH UPGRADE COMING - MARCH 2024
Our team has been working hard to get our technology systems upgraded, and our website and calendar system will be impacted by the migration at the end of February and beginning of March. The updates include a new calendar system for activity sign up and a parent portal viewing your family’s service hours!
The volunteering calendar for March 2024 will not open in February as usual, but instead families will be sent instructions the first week of March to update their accounts in the new system and then have access to the month’s volunteering opportunities.
