Did you know that Generation SERVE is a President's Volunteer Service Award certifying site?
We present this special award to volunteers as young as 5 years old who accomplish a truly impressive number of service hours through Generation SERVE within the calendar year. Important Information New: Generation SERVE's service year will now be the calendar year, January through December. New: Generation SERVE will now accept 75% of service hours from outside organizations. Read more below. How to Qualify
Step 1: Make sure that you are registered with Generation SERVE. This includes creating a calendar account. (Only necessary if you are new to Generation SERVE.) Step 2: Sign up for activities on the Generation SERVE calendar. Our monthly calendars for families and teens offer:
There is something for everyone in different types of services areas. Try them all or find the organization that speaks to you! Meanwhile, we track your hours for you. Step 3: Try all the different options or stick to one nonprofit, either way Generation SERVE wants to make sure that your dedication to your community is rewarded! Keep volunteering! Step 4: Volunteered outside of Generation SERVE? We accept those hours too! Our mission is to create community-minded leaders and instill a love of volunteering, which is why we count hours completed outside of Generation SERVE activities. Awardees must complete 25% of their award hours through Generation SERVE. The chart below details how many Generation SERVE hours you need for each award. For example:
If Cecily is 16 years old for less than 7 months in her award year, and she wanted to earn the silver medal, she would need to complete 18.75 hours through Generation SERVE in order for her outside hours to earn her a silver President's Volunteer Service Award. If Cecily is 16 years old of more than 7 months in her award year she and she wanted to earn the silver medal, she would need to complete 43.75 hours through Generation SERVE in order for her outside hours to earn her a silver President's Volunteer Service Award. Step 5: Report outside hours using this Google Form. All outside volunteer hours must be submitted by January 31st of the following year through the Google Form. We will accept hours throughout the year and they will be entered into your account quarterly.
