Kids' Meals
Our partner Kids' Meals provides free, healthy meals to Houston's hungriest preschool-aged children. Power loss from the winter storm spoiled nearly their entire supply of food and they are having to start from scratch to feed Houston's kids! See the video explaining this horrible loss here. They are in great need of food donations and volunteer help. Please sign up for a volunteer slot on their calendar or consider packing lunch sacks at home and donating directly to their warehouse.
Houston Food Bank
The Houston Food Bank is in need of nonperishable items such as peanut butter, canned proteins, and protein bars. Call (713)547-8604 to make a donation. They also NEED VOLUNTEERS! You can register for a shift to volunteer for the Houston Food Bank through Generation SERVE's calendar or sign up directly on the Houston Food Bank calendar for a kitchen or warehouse shift.
CrowdSource Rescue
CrowdSource Rescue is a Houston-based disaster response nonprofit. They have partnered with several TX food banks and are currently organizing volunteers to help to do no-contact food deliveries to elderly residents in SE Texas. AniMeals
Interfaith Ministries' AniMeals on Wheels delivers food to feed the pets of Houston's homebound seniors. They are in very shot supply of pet food. The best and safest way to donate is to order pt food and have it shipped to their address c/o Interfaith Ministries, 3215 San Jacinto, Houston 77004. You can see a list of requested items on their Amazon Wish List.
Interfaith Ministries' Meals on Wheels
Interfaith Ministries' Meals on Wheels delivers food to Houston's homebound seniors. With the winter weather they are in need of warming supplies for seniors. Please see their Amazon Wish List. We will post any needs for route rescuers as we learn of them, too.
Ronald McDonald House
Ronald McDonald House is a home away from home for families whose seriously ill children are being treated at the Texas Medical Center. They are in need of the following items: bottled water, granola cereal bars, pop tarts, individual packets of crackers and/or pretzels, juice boxes, fruit snacks, microwave meals, tuna and chicken salad lunch kits, packets of cookies, single serving size boxes of cereal. Star of Hope
The Star of Hope supports Houston's men, women, and children experiencing homelessness. Star of Hope is in need of toiletries such as lotion, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste, diapers, underwear, towels and blankets. Please see their website for more information.
ECHOS-Houston
Epiphany Community Health Outreach Services helps families meet their basic needs, on their path to self-sufficiency. In response to the winter storm, they have scheduled two food fairs to help our neighbors who have lost power, food, and income. If you would like to volunteer please register on our calendar.
Heights Interfaith Ministries Food Pantry
The HIM Food Pantry is accepting donations of non-perishable food, toiletries, diapers and used grocery bags at their Feed Frank Depository at 3523 Beauchamp St., Houston, TX 77009.
Casa De Esperanza
Casa De Esperanza de los Ninos strives to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect for at-risk infants, children, and their families by providing comprehensive residential and family support programs that transform people and communities. Their greates needs right now are non-perishable food items and/or grocery store gift cards to help these families replace the food they lost during the power outage. Items can be dropped off at their office by appointment only. Please call (713)529-0639 to schedule.
Cajun Navy/Gallery Furniture
The Cajun Navy and Cajun Commisary have partnered with Gallery Furniture to organize a supply drive and distribution to the community in response to the recent winter storm. They are accepting donations of bottled water, non-perishable food and blankets at Gallery Furniture, 6006 North Freeway, 7 days/week beginning Friday 2/19 from 10am-5pm until further notice or until community needs change. Donations need to be dropped off behind the Customer Service Pick-Up sign.
West Houston Assistance Ministries
In response to the storm, their disaster team is conducting food distributions ever day from 9:30AM-12:30PM through next Friday. On 2/25/2021 they will have the disaster distribution in the morning and regular BackPack Buddy distribution in the afternoon from 2:30PM-6PM. If students want to participate in the BackPack Buddy distribution they may arrive as late as 3:30PM.
Houston Harris County Winter Storm Relief Fund
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo have established this fund to help our region's most vulnerable neighbors. The fund will focus on relief and recovery efforts across the City of Houston and Harris County. The Greater Houston Community Foundation and United Way of Greater Houston will jointly oversee and administer the grant distribution process. Donations can be made online.
