Calendar & Activities Coordinator
The Calendar & Activities Coordinator works with the Houston Site Director to develop the systems, processes, quality assurance, and engagement that Generation SERVE families and partners need to complete impactful volunteer projects. The Calendar & Activities Coordinator will also have the opportunity to mentor teens on the Teen Advisory Board, and work alongside the Houston Site Director to implement new opportunities for families and nonprofit partners. A Generation SERVE AmeriCorps Member in this position is someone who has an interest in teaching, community engagement, volunteering, advocacy, and families. You are well organized and love to work with groups, but also like problem solving and program implementation. In this position you will be able to learn about local non-profits, program management, and group management. This is a 30 hour position with evening and weekend hours required. Apply today! JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: Research local nonprofts and their needs Manage and facilitate Generation SERVE group activities (training provided) Effectively communicate activity tasks and instructions to a diverse audience Facilitate short discussions about volunteerism and the service areas the projects are addressing Perform pre- and post- activity tasks that may include manual labor Professionally represent Generation SERVE and its branded family volunteering experience Engage with families to learn about their interests and direct them to new volunteer opportunities to help them develop a love of volunteering Engage with Activity Leads to help them troubleshoot activity logistics and engaging families in meaningful conversations Engage with partners to schedule activities that meet their needs Troubleshoot weekend program needs and be the voice and face of Generation SERVE SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS: Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with both children and adults Trustworthy and dependable Detail oriented and extremely organized Flexible availability including evenings and weekends Excellent written communication Ability to learn new database systems and calendaring software Must have access to car/vehicle or reliable transportation Consent to and successfully pass a background check WORK SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION: This position requires 30 hours per week with a 900 hour commitment from September through May 2023. A living stipend is paid through our AmeriCorps partner Equal Heart, with an educational bonus upon completed requirements.
